Pinar del Río

Pinar del Rio is the westernmost of the Cuban provinces, known as the Cuban tobacco capital.

The city of Pinar del Río is the capital of the municipality and province with the same name. Located in the southern plain of the province of Pinar del Río, on the banks of the Guamá River. Its name is attributed to the existence of a pine forest next to the banks of the Guamá River, in the place where it settled. Formerly it was known as New Philippines.

22 kilometers southwest of the City of Pinar del Río is the Cabo de San Antonio, the westernmost tip of Cuba. There you can visit the Roncali Lighthouse, built in the second half of the 19th century, it is said that «the Cape is the end of the key that opens the Gulf of Mexico»

With good access from Havana on the National Highway and roads to all its tourist attractions this province has been increasing in preference to tourists attracted by its natural beauty, its extraordinary landscapes, its magnificent seabed and for being the Mecca of the best tobacco in the world.
