Matanzas is the second largest province of Cuba, after Havana, and one of the most contributed to the economic development of the island. It is located in the western region of Cuba and, except for the highlands of the northwest and center of the province, all its surface is flat. With a tropical climate almost all year, attracts many tourists who come in search of sun and beach, since Matanzas contains one of the most precious pearls of Cuba, Varadero.

The city of Matanzas, its capital, has its charm both for the neoclassical style of its buildings and the rhythm that pervades everything, because in this place the danzón and the rumba were born. In its streets you can listen to a bembé in the neighborhood of Marina, watch a rumba street performance in the Plaza de la Vigía, or witness a danzón dance.

Known with several names such as Athens of Cuba, City of the Bridges, Venice of America, City of Poets, it was declared a Tourist City, taking into account its numerous patrimonial, geographic and cultural attributes that make it an exceptional city.

It has communication through its airport with the main cities of the country and also by road, with Havana through the national highway and the Vía Blanca and with the rest of the country through the National Highway and the Central Highway.
